Beer making can really make your house smell like a brewery, so your brew area must be in a well ventilated location. Additionally, you will need access to water and a sink large enough to hold the 16 quart pot for cooling your beer down before adding the yeast.

Here is an outline of a basic brewing procedure to make beer in your home:

Basic Batch information:
Beer type: Ale
Batch size: Approximately 5 gallons or 60 twelve ounce bottles
Time to make beer:

Making beer: 1 Ω - 2 hours
Fermentation: 10-14 days

Steps involved in making beer:

Getting Your Homebrew Supplies Together
Getting Started Making Beer
Making the Wort
Pitching the Yeast
Fermenting Your Beer
Priming and Bottling
Drinking Your Beer

As you can see, the process is not that difficult, however, it does involve processes secondary to the actual beer making that add to the overall time required. It is very worthwhile to take the suggested time to brew and bottle your beer. Cutting corners at any of the stages of the brewing process is an invitation to disaster. Pay particular care to the sanitization of the bottles you use. Take the time to ensure the bottles have been properly and thoroughly cleaned.

Have patience during the entire process an you will be rewarded. While the time may often seem interminable, the end result of learning how to make your own beer at home, and drinking your own product, is most certainly worth it!
