“Where has all the horror gone? Do you know what I mean? It is not in the movies anymore, hell you know that they only want for shock and jump scares for those fuckwits at Hollywood. No real fear is stoked up. Not like it used to be by the masters of the craft. You’re probably asking yourself, are we too desensitised? And you know, well, if we are it is not from the fucking movies, I can tell you that for sure. They’re not that good anymore. No, it is not from that, it’s from this ‘life’ we’re supposedly living.
And yes, I know what you will say, the last two and a half years have been shit. Yes, they have fucked us all up a bit more than we like to admit. But it is not that alone. It is also the bombardment of shit that they throw at us every day that we are just meant to swallow. And choke down like good little children eating their rotten greens. From all angles. We could start to wonder if it was us and not them. But you can’t think like that. So, fuck ‘em.
Well, you can actually, think like that, not fuck them that is. No, but that is the wonder of the human mind, isn’t it? Full of amazing capacity for creativity and ingenuity and an almighty ability to fuck itself in the ass, usually for the sake of something as petty and stupid as money. And no, it’s not a rich man talking. It’s just a casual observer passing through. So, I will leave you stranger than the way I came.”
And with that, he got up by spinning around on his stool and jumping to his feet. With a sideways glance and a tip of the hat he was gone. I doubt I will ever see him again.
